plus I pulled the exhaust, gutted the precats, removed the rear subframe, replaced a knuckle assembly, rebuilt a hub, replaced some injectors, removed the driveshaft and differential, replaced almost every bushing on the car, changed the shocks and springs, redid the interor (all panels + resurface and redye the seats), adjusted the clutch, changed the front fascia, wet-sanded and buffed the entire painted surface, fabricated custom shift/E-brake boots, fixed a damaged hub, changed the rotors and pads, rewired the fog lights, replaced the antenna, removed the radiator, removed the rack and pinion, replaced and resealed the back window, changed the fuel pressure regulator and other fuel components, wired in three different subwoofer/amp combinations, ran every dignostic possible, changed the waterpump, removed the alternator, changed the thermostat, removed and replaced the fan and fan clutch ... and plenty more. And that's just on my 91TT ... it's in really good condition. You should have seen what I did with my crappy old 86NA! It REALLY needed some work. My brother's and I have been playing with cars for as long as I can remember ... making go carts, modifying lawn mower engines etc. I've even helped out with my father's airplane engine (not fun by the way ... too many FAA regulations). I don't have the slightest bit of apprehension in attempting to build a car from pieces specifically made for that purpose ... or attempting to alter an existing component to fit and work. Just as a little illustration, I made my own pop charger for $25 ... complete with a billet aluminum mounting bracket and a filter with more filtering capacity than a K&N. Just because most people don't try these things doesn't mean that it isn't possible. I also build computers, weld, solder electronics, run physiological stress tests (VO2max, radioisotope thallium, EKG) on cardiac patients, perform hydrostatic densitomety and advanced spirometry, and am getting a Ph.D. in Neuroscience ... A kit car is exactly that ... a car that is made from a kit. It's designed for someone to build it ... why not me? I've got some skills ... I'm relatively intelligent ... I learn quickly ... I can do body work to cover my screw-ups (I didn't say I was perfect). :) The only thing I don't have that is needed to build a kit car is money.
